Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of at least 113 naturally occurring cannabinoids identified in hemp plants, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract. CBDs can be taken into the body in multiple different ways, including by inhalation of smoke or vapor, as an aerosol spray into the cheek, and by mouth (edibles). It comes in many forms, such as oils containing only CBD as the active ingredient, a full-plant CBD-dominant hemp extract oil, capsules, dried, as a liquid solution, or edibles like cookies, gum, or beverages.
CBDs do NOT have intoxicating effects like those caused by THC, and actually have an opposing effect on disordered thinking and anxiety produced by THC. CBDs have been found to interact with a variety of different biological targets, including cannabinoid receptors and other neurotransmitter receptors.
Edibles are discrete, and less harmful than smoking. There’s no smell associated with them, making them ideal for social situations. The drawback is they’re slow acting when compared to smoking or vaping. So if you’re looking for discretion above all else, edibles are the way to go.
While the major drawback of smoking and vaping is how obvious it is, the major benefit is that the effect is near instant. Another major benefit is for those quitting smoking, this will help you replace nicotine with a healthful alternative.
Yes. While CBDs are generally well tolerated and considered safe, it’s generally wise to speak with your doctor before putting anything new into your body.
It has been found that CBDs can help reduce anxiety caused by social situations if the correct dose and application of CBDs is used. For example if speaking publicly causes you stress a 500mg dose of CBDs can help you overcome this fear. Or for example if just going to a social setting, a 250mg dose may work for you.
Everyone Is Different. There are countless variables such as weight, metabolism, and genetics, that make up you. Coupled with a wide variety of symptoms CBD covers, a prescribed dosage is basically impossible. What's best is to start out with a low dosage, and explore from there. For general well being, we recommend 25mg twice a day as a good starting point. From there increase by 25mg a week until the desired effects are reached. Everyone Is Different, so an exact recommendation is difficult. However generally speaking it’s recommended by the Mayo Clinic that for sleep disorders, oral CBDs in the 25-150mg range be used. This would be any of our edibles, gums, or oral sprays.
